The following is a selection of my favourite portraits I've made over a long period of time.
It was the morning of the Fremantle Festival 2006 as I recall and I had been participating in a weekend photo course with local photographer Nick Melodonis. I noticed this old bloke shuffling across the road before he sat down to have a smoke. I had seen him around Fremantle on the odd occasion however after this event I never saw him again.
Image made with a Canon 20D, Canon 70-300 f/4-5.6.
Carlos from Melbourne. Carlos died a couple of months after this image was made in his home in Melbourne. He was riddled with cancer but kept it as a secret to himself until his last days.
Michael, a customer of Diamond Aps, seen here fooling around in the shop on a Saturday morning...
A keen diver and swimmer in his youth - Pauls left ear became badly damaged and he lost his hearing. This image was taken late 2015, the day before his staples were removed after his second Cochlear Implant attempt. The first implant had to be removed after he acquired a severe antibiotic-resistant infection in the hospital. He spent over 6 months on an antibiotic drip, bottles bandaged to his arms and visiting the hospital daily for refills and wound cleaning. It's been a long road, but the second implant has so far proven to be a success.
Suzie is preparing a modeling portfolio with the vision to become a model. This is our first shoot, done in her backyard with a simple white blind stretched behind and under her and using natural light.

Santa Betty 2015
Santa Betty's third Christmas at Diamond Aps Mens Recycling Boutique. Odette was making the photos - reminiscent of those made when a child with the big fat bearded Santa who often smelt like old cigarettes and whisky, only this time it's a sexy, yet family friendly Santa who, according to her fans, smells divinely wonderful.

Looking fine at a friends wedding. RIP dear friend.
This image was made combining a sunset taken from my porch and Michael in front of this Cadillac. It was one of my first attempt at photoshop. Michael used this image for promotional work.

Swanning on the Swan with Maggie.
Bob Bowman (aka Batohi).
Batohi and I became friends in 1983 in Sydney when we shared a house in Bondi Beach with a few others. It was because of my friend Batohi (and a few others) who made the move from Sydney to Fremantle in 1983/84 that gave me the confidence to make the move myself later in 1984. Im sure it saved all of our lives.
Batohi died in 2015. He lived in Denmark WA with his son.
RIP dear friend.
Minni is another 1983 blow-in from Sydney.
Minni and I have been friends since this time and is part of a large group of friends who have remained connected for over 30 years.
